Basketball Recap: Valentine Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Paige Sprenger and Aiden Hand

Valentine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 53-30 loss courtesy of the West Holt Huskies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Valentine has suffered against West Holt since December 3, 2016.

Aiden Hand and Paige Sprenger certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hand posted eight points and 12 rebounds, while Sprenger earned 14 points and five rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Valentine's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Valentine's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for West Holt, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Valentine won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gordon-Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Holt, they will venture away from home to square off against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
