Softball Recap: DeKalb Takes a Loss

DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Metea Valley Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Barbs of the 10-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hazel Montavon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

DeKalb's record now sits at 8-5. As for Metea Valley, their record is now 5-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. DeKalb will face off against rival Naperville North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Metea Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Waubonsie Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
