Basketball Recap: Lee Williams Takes a Loss

Lee Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Churchill County Greenwave 53-16. While losing is never fun, the Volunteers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 194th in Arizona, while the Greenwave are ranked 15th in Nevada).

Churchill County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raegan Johnson led the charge by going 7 for 11 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlie J. Simper, who posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals.

Lee Williams' loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Churchill County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Lee Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 39-37 defeat against Green Valley on the 27th. As for Churchill County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-27 loss against St. Joseph on the 27th.
