Basketball Game Preview: Fort Loramie Redskins vs. Houston Wildcats

Fort Loramie is 10-0 against Houston since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fort Loramie Redskins will look to defend their home court against the Houston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Fort Loramie is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Fort Loramie came up short against Dayton Christian and fell 61-51. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the WARRIORS are ranked 160th).

Despite their loss, Fort Loramie saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Maxwell Maurer, who posted 15 points along with six boards and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. What's more, Maurer also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Landen Drees was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Fort Loramie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Houston lost to New Knoxville on the road by a 57-39 margin on Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Fort Loramie, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-8.

Fort Loramie skirted past Houston 33-31 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Does Fort Loramie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Houston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
