Basketball Recap: Peyton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gilpin County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Peyton). They came out on top against the Gilpin County Eagles by a score of 44-34 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Peyton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Scarlett Clark out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-high in rebounds. Maysn Gregg was another key player, going 6 for 14 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Gilpin County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elise Vincent, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Ramsey, who had nine points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Peyton now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Gilpin County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Peyton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 32-30 defeat against Manual on the 19th. As for Gilpin County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-31 victory against Kiowa on the 19th.
