Recap: Middletown Islanders vs. Tiverton Tigers
The Middletown Islanders took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against Tiverton by a score of 43-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Middletown also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.
Ella Bolano was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Zins, who scored five points.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna DelDeo, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Katie Richardson, who scored seven points.
Middletown pushed their record up to 1-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tiverton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Middletown will head out on the road to face off against North Providence at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tiverton, they will be playing at home against Coventry at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Coventry is ranked 24th, while Tiverton is ranked 38th).
