Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Tampa Takes a Loss

Cristo Rey Tampa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-21 loss at the hands of the Cambridge Christian Lancers. The Panthers lost against the Lancers in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

Cristo Rey Tampa lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Johatzy Dominguez, who posted eight points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Joslin, who had eight points.

Cristo Rey Tampa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cambridge Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey Tampa will head out to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cambridge Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Shorecrest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cambridge Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
