Softball Recap: Dwight Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seneca, Dwight was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Midland Timberwolves. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Madi Ely spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Dwight saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Franklin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Averi Jury was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Dwight hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland struck out seven times.

Dwight's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Midland, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Coming up, Dwight will face off against Pontiac at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Midland will be paying especially close attention to Dwight's match: after Dwight faces off against Pontiac, they'll take on Midland again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
