Basketball Recap: Wapahani Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Wapahani had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Daleville Broncos by a score of 40-28. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-40 back in November of 2024.

Wapahani got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kimber Abshear out in front who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 16 boards, and 12 blocks. Abshear is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Luce, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Daleville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trishell Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Pratcher, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 10 points.

Wapahani is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Daleville, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Wapahani didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-43 defeat against Delta on the 18th. Daleville has also already played their next game (against Seton Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
