Softball Recap: Castilleja Triumphs

Castilleja was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the El Camino Colts 9-7.

Raina Kapadia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.7 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katherine Cheng, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Anya Delal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Castilleja back to even at 2-2. As for El Camino, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Castilleja is set to face off against their familiar foe Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, El Camino will take on rival South San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
