Basketball Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. Carlmont Scots

Menlo-Atherton is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Carlmont is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Menlo-Atherton Bears will welcome the Carlmont Scots at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Menlo-Atherton is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Burlingame: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Menlo-Atherton blew Burlingame out of the water with a 62-29 final score. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Carlmont beat Jefferson 58-45 on Wednesday. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlmont has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Menlo-Atherton, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
