Volleyball Recap: Seymour Wildcats vs. Shelton Gaels

After flying high against Kennedy on Tuesday, Seymour came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Shelton Gaels on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gaels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Seymour started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-15.

Bailey Sadick paced Seymour's offense, picking up 11 kills. Sadick got some help from Isabelle Lester and her 15 assists. Lester was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Shelton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicole Zotova led the charge by getting 15 digs and three aces. Zotova is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Sollenne, who had seven digs and two aces.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Shelton, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will face off against Crosby at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shelton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mercy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
