Volleyball Recap: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Narraguagus Knights
After flying high against Brewer on Tuesday, Mount Desert Island came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 3-1 to the Narraguagus Knights on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Thursday.
The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 25-15, 25-12.
Mount Desert Island's offense was headlined by Annabel Curry and Lanaia McDaniels, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Lily Byer and her 21 assists. Ella Watson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Leading Narraguagus to victory were Eileen Berry and Dulce Vazquez. Berry had 20 digs and one assist, while Vazquez had ten digs and two aces. Those ten digs gave Vazquez a new career-high.
Mount Desert Island has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Narraguagus, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Desert Island will take on Lake Region at 1:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Narraguagus, they will challenge Ellsworth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
