Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. Zeeland East Chix

The Waverly Warriors will head out to challenge the Zeeland East Chix at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waverly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Zeeland East likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Waverly was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 87-82 to Carman-Ainsworth. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Zeeland East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They took down Jenison 51-37 on Friday. That looming 51-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chix yet this season.

Zeeland East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Waverly, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1.

Waverly came out on top in a nail-biter against Zeeland East in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 74-72. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waverly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
