Softball Game Preview: Abbeville Yellowjackets vs. Russell County Warriors

Abbeville is 0-6 against Russell County since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Abbeville has given up an average of 15.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Abbeville is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game dating back to last season last Thursday. They lost 16-6 to Russell County.

For Russell County's part, Mikayla Heimbach looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Russell County let Arveonna Randolph and Tenley Cotarelo run wild. Randolph got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Cotarelo went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Cotarelo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karoline Lance, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Russell County's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-19. As for Abbeville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
