Baseball Recap: West Broward Comes Up Short

If West Broward was feeling good fresh off their 12-3 takedown of Coral Springs Charter last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats fell just short of the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Braden Aguila was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West Broward saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manuel Sarcos, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

West Broward's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

West Broward will be playing at home against Pembroke Pines Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they will square off against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
