Baseball Recap: Benton Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Benton won against Hardin County on Friday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Benton blew past the Tuscola Warriors 9-3. The Rangers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

The team relied heavily on Clay Gage, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kyle Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Benton's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average this season. As for Tuscola, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Benton and Tuscola will both be playing Zeigler-Royalton the next time they take the field. Tuscola will head out to face Zeigler-Royalton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Benton will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
