Volleyball Recap: Oceanside Comes Up Short

Oceanside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on October 8th.

Oceanside was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.

La Costa Canyon found their leader in sophomore Gigi Iyer, who had six digs and four aces.

Oceanside's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for La Costa Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season.

Oceanside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Mira Mesa on the 29th. As for La Costa Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Brawley on the 28th.
