Softball Game Preview: Moon Valley Rockets vs. Goldwater Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Moon Valley will face off against Goldwater. The Rockets will take on the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Moon Valley has now lost 16 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 26.

Monday just wasn't the day for Moon Valley's offense. They came up short against Goldwater on Monday, falling 21-0.

For Goldwater's part, Micaela De La Torre made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. De La Torre was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Johanna Hampton and Faith Pederson did most of the damage at the plate: Hampton went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Pederson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Pederson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avrie White, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Goldwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .720. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Moon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Goldwater, their record now sits at 5-11.
