Volleyball Game Preview: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

Cheyenne hasn't had much luck against Sierra Vista recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Desert Shields are taking a road trip to challenge the Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m.

Cheyenne came up short against Green Valley on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Cheyenne was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Green Valley's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista faced Shadow Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountain Lions.

Sierra Vista wouldn't go down easily and took Shadow Ridge into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12.

Cheyenne's loss dropped their record down to 7-23. As for Sierra Vista, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-13.

Cheyenne couldn't quite get it done against Sierra Vista in their previous meeting on April 5th as they fell 2-0. Can the Desert Shields avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
