Softball Recap: Apollo Comes Up Short

Apollo managed to slip by West Point the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Apollo came up short against West Point on Tuesday, falling 18-11. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Taylor Veloz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Fernanda Barrera Prudente also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Apollo is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for West Point, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apollo will head out to take on Sunnyslope at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Point, they will venture away from home to challenge Apollo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
