Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Union Pines' Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Union Pines won the last time they faced Pinecrest and things went their way on Tuesday too. Union Pines put the hurt on Pinecrest with a sharp 18-4 win. Considering the Vikings have won four contests by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kileigh Cameron was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Andrews, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Cameron wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Union Pines kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Union Pines is 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Union Pines has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Pinecrest is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Union Pines is taking a road trip to face off against Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pinecrest, they will welcome Randleman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Randleman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Pinecrest's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
