Baseball Game Preview: St. Ignatius Wildcats vs. Westlake Demons

The St. Ignatius Wildcats will head out to challenge the Westlake Demons at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. St. Ignatius' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Westlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Ignatius is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Archbishop Hoban just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 6-3 to the Knights.

Marcus Tekancic was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Normandy by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday. The Demons have beaten the Invaders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Invaders has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Chris Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Gavin Mcmillen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

St. Ignatius' loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

St. Ignatius came out on top in a nail-biter against Westlake when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Demons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
