Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Grove Panthers vs. Fordland Eagles

The Mountain Grove Panthers will square off against the Fordland Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mountain Grove sitting on four straight victories and Fordland on five.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mountain Grove duked it out with Licking on Monday. Mountain Grove walked away with a 46-38 win over Licking.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fordland). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-25 victory over Koshkonong. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Fordland pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Mountain Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Mountain Grove was able to grind out a solid win over Fordland in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 58-47. Does Mountain Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fordland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
