Waggener dropped down to 5-12 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Brown Bears by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.
Brayan Yariel was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
As for Brown, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.
On Brown's side, Oscar Wright was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Wright has posted since back in March. Cullen Boles was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Waggener will face off against Ballard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Brown, they will head out to face off against Francis Parker at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
