Football Game Preview: Digital Pioneers Academy Pythons vs. Sidwell Friends Quakers

The Digital Pioneers Academy Pythons are taking a road trip to square off against the Sidwell Friends Quakers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Digital Pioneers Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Digital Pioneers Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: KIPP College Prep, who was ranked 16th at the time (Digital Pioneers Academy was ranked 12th). The Pythons claimed a resounding 36-0 victory over the Panthers. The Pythons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Laroy Williams went supernova, rushing for 153 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. Steven Lane made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Digital Pioneers Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Qualoe Parker and Lane. Lane got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Sidwell Friends slipped by St. Stephen's & St. Agnes 20-19 on Saturday.

Digital Pioneers Academy's record now sits at 6-1. As for Sidwell Friends, their record is now 2-4.

Digital Pioneers Academy took their win against Sidwell Friends when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 28-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pythons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
