Recap: Mays Raiders vs. Villa Rica Wildcats
The Mays Raiders won the last time they faced the Villa Rica Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Mays walked away with a 58-50 victory over Villa Rica. Given Mays' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Villa Rica is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mays' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaqorian Wiggles, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. Wiggles has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derron Lindsey ii, who scored 16 points.
Mays is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Villa Rica, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.
Mays does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Villa Rica, they will be playing at home against Creekside at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Creekside is coming into the match with 11 straight losses on the road, meaning Villa Rica will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
