Basketball Recap: North Callaway Comes Up Short

North Callaway was the 54-49 winner over Elsberry when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The North Callaway Thunderbirds fell to the Elsberry Indians 37-32. While the Thunderbirds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 13-3 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, North Callaway saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophie Olsson went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points and seven rebounds. Olsson also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 71%.

North Callaway's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Elsberry, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Callaway will head out to square off against Wright City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elsberry, they will venture away from home to face off against Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
