Basketball Game Preview: Hillgrove Hawks vs. Campbell Spartans

The Hillgrove Hawks will head out to square off against the Campbell Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Campbell will be up against a hot Hillgrove squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Hillgrove breezed by Osborne to the tune of 69-37 on Friday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Campbell unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Chattanooga Christian.

Hillgrove is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Campbell, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.

Hillgrove couldn't quite finish off Campbell when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 52-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Campbell's Marlie Battle, who went 8 of 15 en route to 22 points in addition to seven boards and six steals.
