Basketball Game Preview: Shelton Bulldogs vs. Silver Lake Mustangs

Shelton is 10-0 against Silver Lake since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Shelton Bulldogs will take on the Silver Lake Mustangs in a tournament on Thursday. Shelton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Shelton saw some tournament action on Monday. They breezed by Giltner to the tune of 72-27. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Ben Myers was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Ohlman, who posted 16 points.

Shelton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Silver Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They snuck past the Blue Devils with a 37-31 victory.

Shelton has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Silver Lake, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Shelton was able to grind out a solid victory over Silver Lake in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 63-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Silver Lake's Jordan Faimon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Shelton to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
