Softball Recap: Barnwell Extends Winning Streak to Four

Barnwell got themselves on the board against Edisto on Tuesday, but Edisto never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Warhorses have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Laney Grubbs, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Abigail Corley, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact: Barnwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Warhorses: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.

The win (which was Barnwell's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Edisto, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Barnwell has already played their next contest, a 9-5 win against Woodland on the 3rd. As for Edisto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 10-4 defeat against Silver Bluff on the 3rd.
