Basketball Recap: Pope John XXIII Comes Up Short

Pope John XXIII was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Newton Braves, falling 57-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pope John XXIII of the 69-50 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2020.

Pope John XXIII's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Newton, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pope John XXIII will venture away from home to take on Delaware Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Newton, they will challenge Parsippany Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Parsippany Hills likes a good challenge.
