Basketball Recap: Noah Vanbeurden Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win + How To Watch

After losing to Statesville the last time they met, Alexander Central decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars managed a 74-70 win over the Greyhounds on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alexander Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah VanBeurden, who posted 33 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which VanBeurden has scored at least a third of the Cougars' points. Jaheim Redmond was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six assists and five steals.

Despite the loss, Statesville still got an impressive performance from Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who shot 48% from the field on his way to 32 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. The game was Gladden's sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Williams, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

The victory got Alexander Central back to even at 3-3. As for Statesville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Alexander Central will take on East Burke in a holiday battle at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Statesville and North Mecklenburg will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
