Volleyball Recap: East Wake Academy Makes It Five in a Row at Home + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Roxboro Community, East Wake Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Raleigh Charter Phoenix 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 2nd.

East Wake Academy's got stronger as the match went on, holding Raleigh Charter to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-15.

Avery Schmidt was her usual excellent self, getting 16 digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August. Emerson Morris was another key player, getting six kills, six digs, and one block.

They weren't the only good server: East Wake Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They are 11-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Raleigh Charter's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devyn Bucholz, who had ten digs and two assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Sheng, who had eight digs.

East Wake Academy pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Raleigh Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
