Softball Recap: Emerald's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak at Home

Emerald won the last time they faced Southside and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Tigers. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Jordyn Knight was a standout: she scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Cline, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Emerald always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .538 that Southside posted.

Emerald's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Southside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Emerald will take on Brashier Middle College Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Bengal at the right time seeing as the Bengal are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Southside, they will venture away from home to take on Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
