Basketball Recap: Brentwood Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Brentwood and Trinity Christian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Brentwood had to settle for second. They fell 55-43 to the Trinity Christian Crusaders. The War Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 48-40.

When it comes to explaining why Brentwood lost, don't look at Bailey Barron. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Barron has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cadence English, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 16 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Brentwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups.

The defeat snapped Brentwood's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-7 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Trinity Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Brentwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity Christian, they will square off against Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Trinity Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Central Fellowship Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
