Baseball Recap: North Shore Country Day Has No Trouble Against Lake Forest Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Niles Notre Dame, North Shore Country Day was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Lake Forest Academy Caxys with a sharp 19-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Caxys: they've now won six in a row.

Gerald Kalotis made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, North Shore Country Day got a massive performance out of Reed Metzler, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave Metzler a new career-high. Cole Berlin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

North Shore Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

North Shore Country Day's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lake Forest Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

North Shore Country Day will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Caxys: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
