Softball Recap: Dixie Sets Scoring Season-High Against Non Varsity Opponent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dixie). They blew past Non Varsity Opponent 14-2 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Flyers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Morgan Staheli was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eliza Kesterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Layla London was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dixie's win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Dixie has already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Moapa Valley on the 5th. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will square off against Foxfire at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
