After both having extra time off, the Bishop Diego Cardinals and the Foothill Tech Dragons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Diego is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Bishop Diego was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Valley Christian Academy last Thursday. Bishop Diego was the clear victor by a 23-7 margin over Valley Christian Academy. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Anna Fittipaldi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Keke Flores was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Penny Carroll, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Bishop Diego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five contests, Foothill Tech finally came back down to earth last Thursday. They lost 12-1 to Santa Clara. The game marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

With the win, Bishop Diego broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-3. As for Foothill Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went Bishop Diego's way against Foothill Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Bishop Diego made off with a 10-0 victory. Does Bishop Diego have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill Tech turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
