Recap: Taft Senators vs. Malvern Prep Friars
Taft kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell victim to a tough 15-2 defeat at the hands of the Malvern Prep Friars.
For Malvern Prep's part, Chase McMahon looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Brady Abate was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Chase Ecker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
The win was the eighth in a row (dating back to last season) for Malvern Prep, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.
Taft will head out on the road to face off against Hughes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Malvern Prep, they will square off against Lawrence Academy/Albemarle School at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
