Baseball Game Preview: Little Miami Panthers vs. Sycamore Aviators

The Little Miami Panthers will face off against the Sycamore Aviators at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Little Miami is returning to their home field after beating Lakota West on theirs, despite the fact Lakota West has dominated at home this season. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Firebirds 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 21st.

Blake Longbottom looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Ian Arthur was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Fox, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Sycamore had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Batavia on Thursday.

Little Miami is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Sycamore, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Little Miami skirted past Sycamore 10-9 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aviators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
