Baseball Recap: Cushing Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chireno

While Cushing's victory against Chireno wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cushing Bearkats had just enough and edged out the Chireno Owls 8-7. The Bearkats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Hunter Gordon was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Gatlin Anthony was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Cushing was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chireno only posted a batting average of .182.

Cushing's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Chireno, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-2.

Looking ahead, Cushing will head out on the road to square off against New Summerfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cushing is facing New Summerfield at the right time seeing as New Summerfield is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Chireno, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gary at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Chireno has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
