Basketball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks Falls Despite Big Games from Lauren Bear and Aniyah Anthony

Tri-West Hendricks came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves by a score of 58-55 on Monday. The Bruins were probably out for revenge after losing 50-46 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Tri-West Hendricks had strong showings from Aniyah Anthony, who went 7 for 14 en route to 26 points and five rebounds, and Lauren Bear, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 26 points gave Anthony a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Tri-West Hendricks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was led to victory by Jailen Bowling and Robyn Pate. Bowling went 7 for 14 en route to 21 points and six boards, while Pate posted 15 points and six rebounds. Audra Kendall was another key player, putting up ten points.

Tri-West Hendricks now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Tri-West Hendricks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-53 win against Southmont on the 15th. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has also already played their next matchup, a 74-73 defeat against North Central on the 17th.
