Basketball Recap: Jacob Arena @Jacob.Shifts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Legacy over Tradition Prep

The Legacy Lions came up short against the Tradition Prep Pirates on Thursday and fell 50-37. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Pirates are ranked 79th).

Legacy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Arena @Jacob.Shifts, who posted eight points. Clint Sanchez @_ocsolo was another key player, putting up six points.

Aydan Fields continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tradition Prep, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Fields has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Harris, who scored seven points and seven rebounds.

Legacy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Tradition Prep, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Coincidentally, Legacy and Tradition Prep will both be playing Tournament Opponent the next time they take the court. The Lions will head out to face Tournament Opponent at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th.
