Baseball Recap: Nottoway Takes a Loss

Nottoway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lunenburg Central Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 8-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Nottoway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Hayes, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those hits were Hayes' first of the season. Another was Jadarrian Hendricks, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Nottoway's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Lunenburg Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Nottoway will head out to square off against Mecklenburg County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lunenburg Central, they will venture away from home to challenge Buckingham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
