Preview: Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles vs. Heritage Christian Academy Chargers
The Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Heritage Christian Academy Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maranatha Christian Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Maranatha Christian Academy was fully in charge, breezing past Kansas City Christian School 53-20 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Maranatha Christian Academy has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Bishop Ward 55-50. While losing is never fun, Heritage Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Bishop Ward is ranked 125th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Landon Pittman, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Cook, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Maranatha Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Maranatha Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 57-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maranatha Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
