Ramona hasn't had much luck against Canyon Crest Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Ramona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Ramona is returning to their home field after beating Escondido on theirs, despite the fact Escondido has dominated at home this season. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Cougars on Friday. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Cougars on their field since March 27, 2019.
Justin Jarrett made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ramona got a massive performance out of Zack Nightingale, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave Nightingale a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Taylor, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Canyon Crest Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Valley Center. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Ravens have suffered against the Jaguars since March 24, 2015.
Canyon Crest Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Ramona has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12-1.
Ramona might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Canyon Crest Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
