Football Game Preview: Riverton Silverwolves vs. Westlake Thunder

The Riverton Silverwolves will challenge the Westlake Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Riverton is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Mountain Ridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Silverwolves lost 41-19 to the Sentinels. The Silverwolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.

Although Riverton took the loss, they still got scores from Kyler Hardle and Tonga Tafisi.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Copper Hills with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Thunder were the (much) better team in the second half.

One reason for the win was Westlake's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from DREYSEN AFUVAI: he made 19 total tackles.

Westlake's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Riverton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Riverton lost to Westlake on the road by a decisive 41-24 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2016. Thankfully for the Silverwolves, Reggie Sio (who threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 117 yards and one score on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
