Basketball Recap: Union Mine Piles Up the Points Against Galt

Union Mine waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Galt Warriors 84-50. Given the Diamondbacks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Warriors are ranked 1356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Union Mine's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Otte, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Patterson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points along with five boards and three steals.

Union Mine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Galt's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Rose-Garcia, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points. Rose-Garcia has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Cooper Cagle was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Union Mine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Galt, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Union Mine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 87-67 victory against El Dorado on the 24th. Galt has also already played their next game, a 56-37 defeat against Liberty Ranch on the 24th.
