Basketball Recap: Richlands Takes a Loss

Richlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 47-21 to the West Carteret Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-14 last Monday.

West Carteret found their leader in sophomore Addison Pavy, who went 7 for 11 to rack up 18 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Pavy a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Skyler Setzer, who posted ten points and five steals.

Richlands' loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for West Carteret, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats face off against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Croatan will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Richlands surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Carteret, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-64 defeat against Kinston on the 10th.
